Open City Stories

Open City Stories follows the journeys of people who have escaped conflict and arrived in Australia, seeking asylum. The brief was to design and develop a website that showcased their stories, presenting them in a beautiful and user-friendly way. The design inspiration draws heavily from classic literature, with each story presented as a book on a shelf. The stories have chapter markers, which allow the user to easily return to sections of the character’s story. The time spent discussing user flow early in the project provided a seamless reading experience on multiple devices and allowed the journeys themselves to take centre stage. The website allows users to read and explore the stories of the asylum seekers over time, while allowing the site administrator to easily upload these stories.
