WITHIN EVERY CYCLING RACE A STORY ALWAYS EMERGES. USING THE MOST RECOGNISED RACE — LE TOUR DE FRANCE, WE CREATED A TYPOGRAPHIC REPRESENTATION OF THE FRENCH NAMES OF THE RACE ORDER.
Melbourne cycling brand Thrones developed a new saddle, aimed at the commuter and race-minded cyclist. The Thrones audience wants to stand out from the crowd, whilst making sure their bike is aesthetically pleasing. Having already developed a collection of illustrations for the weekend warrior, we were approached to create various cycling themed saddle designs that the Thrones audience would appreciate. The three different saddles represent the European aspect of the sport; Ronde Van Vlaanderen is one of the toughest races of the Pro Tour Spring classics, and so we paid homage to the Flemish Lion and the statistics of the Koppenberg. Alpe d’Huez, a 21-hairpin monster of a mountain in the French Alps was another subject we wanted to incorporate, as well as the polka dots of the King Of the Mountains jersey. Within every cycling race a story always emerges. Using the most recognised race, Le Tour de France, we created a typographic representation of the French names of the race order.
